About Foto Verde
Foto Verde is owned by Paulo Valerio, a Costa Rican ecologist/travel entrepreneur, and Greg Basco, a Costa Rican resident professional photographer and conservationist. We started Foto Verde Tours so that we could share our love of photography and Costa Rica's natural habitats with the growing number of nature photographers around the world. Costa Rica, with habitat from cactus-studded tropical dry forest to Caribbean rainforest beaches to cool, misty oak cloud forests all packed into a small democratic republic, truly is a paradise for the nature photographer.

We are both avid nature shooters, live full-time in Costa Rica, and are fully fluent in Spanish and English. In addition, we boast a wealth of knowledge on Costa Rica's natural history, culture, and conservation. Who could know better what you need to get the nature photos of a lifetime? We look forward to meeting and traveling with you on your next photo adventure!

Gregory Basco
Trained formally as a political scientist, Greg has researched and worked in Costa Rica's conservation sector for nearly 15 years. Now a full-time professional photographer who showcases his work through his company Deep Green Photography, Greg enjoys a working relationship with Canon, and his pictures have been published by Lonely Planet, National Geographic Kids, and Newsweek and have appeared in numerous magazines, books, calendars, and public exhibits.

Paulo Valerio
An ecologist by training, Paulo has biology in his blood; he comes from a long line of prominent Costa Rican biologists. Paulo worked for many years as a naturalist guide before starting his own tour company, Buena Aventura Turismo (BAT), which caters to academic and birdwatching groups visiting Costa Rica to learn about the environment. Paulo's connections and expertise in Costa Rica's travel industry allow Foto Verde to take you wherever you need to go to get the photo that you want. Paulo also very much enjoys photography and is especially fond of shooting the cloud forest wildlife that visits his home in the hills above Costa Rica's capital city San Jose.
