Led by professional nature photographer Erez Marom, this instructional workshop takes you to some of the best places in Costa Rica for macro photography. We’ll photograph all manner of macro subjects, including poison frogs, tree frogs, insects, mushrooms, and orchids to capture outstanding images of the amazing colors and details contained in the small world of Costa Rica. Of course, we’d be remiss if we didn’t throw in a bit of bird, wildlife, and landscape photography as well! You'll learn a number of different techniques for taking great rainforest photos.
This brand new workshop is designed for those starting out in photography but with a desire to learn to use their equipment in new and exciting ways to capture the essence of the rainforest. Through a mix of formal instruction and photography and hands-on learning in the field, you'll master basic techniques such as exposure, metering, depth of field, and focusing and move to more advanced strategies such as use of flash, creative lighting, slow shutter speeds, and selective focus. You'll return home with a colorful portfolio of tropical nature images and an expanded photographic toolbox.
This very small group workshop experience (4 participants maximum) is tailored to helping you learn how to create great setups for tropical bird photography. You will take home great images and a wealth of knowledge for how to do your own setups. Birds we'll be photographing include a number of hummingbird species plus toucans, aracaris, honeycreepers, macaws, tanagers, saltators, woodpeckers, parrots, oropendolas, and black guan.
Award-winning photographer Greg Basco will work with you on different techniques to capture artistic images of Costa Rica's biodiversity. With the use of feeder setups for photographing birds, two multiple-flash setups for hummingbirds, and a special opportunity for macro work with one of Greg's friend's herp collections, this trip is packed with a lot of bonuses! Greg will provide plenty of personalized instruction on techniques ranging from creative exposures, fill-flash, multiple-flash, landscape composition, and macro skills to ensure that you learn a ton and take home a portfolio full of fantastic images.
This workshop offers a great mix of photographic opportunities ranging from landscapes to macro to wildlife. We will work on photographic techniques including landscape compositions, HDR, macro, and the use of flash as fill and main light. With three pro photographer instructors along you will receive lots of personalized, hands-on instruction.
This itinerary focuses on obtaining outstanding images of hummingbirds in flight and pollinating local flowers. In addition, we have chosen destinations and added a number of activities designed to yield excellent photo opportunities of songbirds, water birds, insects, and frogs as well as dramatic landscape photos. You will come away from this workshop with a beautiful and diverse portfolio of images as well as a wealth of new knowledge to help you to continue improving and expanding your own photography at home and on your next trip to Costa Rica!
Through a mix of presentations and hands-on instruction, award-winning photographers Doug and Greg will help you on a daily basis to learn techniques such as metering and exposing complex scenes, fill-flash in the field, multiple flash lighting for natural and creative looks, composition in-camera, and digital post-processing.
