FOTO VERDE WORKSHOP TOURS

Foto Verde Tours workshops are led by Greg Basco and/or our selected partner leaders from other parts of the world. On all of our workshops, we are committed to helping you master your camera's functions and explore your artistic vision. Costa Rica poses a number of new challenges to many photographers, and we work hard to add creative exposure, flash, and compositional skills to your photographic toolkit.

Why Foto Verde Tours

FOTO VERDE WORKSHOP TOURS

PERSONALIZED INSTRUCTION

Foto Verde Tours workshop tours always focus on personalized instruction in the field. Costa Rica is a challenging place to shoot (even accomplished photographers are sometimes vexed by the peculiarities of rainforest shooting!), and techniques such as fill-flash, off-camera flash, and exposing via different methods for different subjects and scenes are just a few of the things you'll improve during your time with us.

FRIENDLY STAFF

An enjoyable traveling atmosphere is key to the success of our workshop tours. Our instructors put your needs first. And all of our staff, such as driver and assistant photography guide Jose Lopez pictured above, are photographers themselves and have the same passion for photography as you do. Besides learning a lot and taking home great images, we promise you a fun travel experience.

EXPLORE YOUR CREATIVITY

Though we are thorough in our planning and are with you 24/7 to help you get the images you want, we also leave time for you to explore on your own. We feel it's important that you have time to yourself to try out new techniques and to capture the images that only you can envision.

I just returned from my third consecutive trip with Greg and Foto Verde...they must be doing something right!

Typical Day on a Foto Verde Workshop Tour

We shoot from dawn to dusk and often beyond whether we're at the site of an active volcano or out looking for nocturnal frogs and insects for macro work. In the morning we might be searching for the resplendent quetzal, setting up perches at a bird-feeding station, photographing hummingbirds, or chasing a troop of monkeys. We might be on the lodge grounds in the afternoon, perhaps looking for poison frogs or exploring landscape opportunities in the cloud forest, or we may be out on a riverboat photographing crocodiles. Costa Rica has so much to shoot that we take a break for meals but that's about it. As my good friend and tropical bird photography co-leader Doug Brown says to me every year here, every day is an adventure, and he can't wait to wake up and see what we'll be photographing this day!
